Flat yarn (raffia) is the workhorse process behind woven sacks, FIBC jumbo bags, ropes, twine, carpet backing, and agricultural nets. The resin must extrude into a clean film, slit and draw into high-tenacity tape, and run stabily on high-speed winder lines. We supply three proven raffia grades — L5E89, T30S, and HP550J — matched to your line type and end-product.
Raffia lines run continuous tape at high speed and draw ratio. Five resin properties decide whether your tapes hit tenacity targets and the winder runs without breaks.
Drawn tape must reach the tensile strength your woven fabric or rope specifies. Resin molecular weight and draw-ratio tolerance set the ceiling on tenacity.
A tight molecular weight distribution gives uniform tape denier and stable draw — directly controlling fabric strength and winder uptime.
For twine and rope, the tape must fibrillate predictably into fiber bundles. The right resin balances film toughness with fibrillation response.
Stable melt strength through the drawing oven keeps tape denier and tenacity consistent lot to lot — essential for fabric weight and strength specification.
Outdoor woven sacks, FIBC, and shade nets need UV protection. The resin must accept UV masterbatch cleanly without draw or tenacity loss.
Stable MFR and density prevent winder re-tuning and off-spec tape — the foundation of low scrap and high throughput on raffia lines.
Three proven raffia grades cover the full flat-yarn spectrum — from heavy-duty FIBC to fine twine. Click any grade with a product page for full TDS specifications; others are available on request with mill-direct pricing.

From heavy-duty FIBC to fine twine — here's how our raffia grades map to the products you make.
PP woven sacks for cement, flour, fertilizer, rice, and chemical packaging. High tape tenacity, UV-stabilizable for outdoor storage.
A proven homopolymer for general woven sacks — high stiffness, good tenacity, and excellent cost efficiency for commodity packaging.
Purpose-built raffia grade for heavy-duty woven sacks and FIBC where maximum tape tenacity and drop resistance are specified.
Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers for bulk material handling (500–2000 kg). Safety factor 5:1 or 6:1, UV-stabilized, high-tenacity tape.
Engineered for the high safety-factor tape and lifting loop requirements of FIBC. Consistent tenacity lot to lot supports certified SWL ratings.
Agricultural twine, baler twine, packaging rope, and marine cordage. Controlled fibrillation and high knot strength.
Tuned for predictable fibrillation into fiber bundles — the key property for soft, strong twine and rope that knots and handles well.
Carpet primary/backing fabric, geotextile, and technical woven fabric. Dimensional stability and consistent tape width.
Stiff, dimensionally stable tape for carpet backing and geotextile where fabric flatness and weave stability matter.
Shade nets, bird netting, hail net, and windbreak for agriculture and construction. Long outdoor life with UV stabilization.
Accepts UV masterbatch for multi-season outdoor nets. Balanced tenacity and fibrillation suit the knitted-net process.
PP raffia processes on standard flat-yarn lines (film extrusion → slitting → hot-draw → annealing → winding). Use these ranges as a starting point; fine-tune to your die, draw-oven length, and winder speed.
| Extruder / Melt Temperature | 190 – 230 °C |
| Die Temperature | 210 – 230 °C |
| Draw Ratio | 5 – 8 |
| Draw-Oven Temperature | 120 – 160 °C |
| Annealing Roll Temperature | 90 – 120 °C |
| Winder Speed | 300 – 500 m/min |
| Drying (recommended) | 80 °C / 1–2 h |
Tenacity rises with draw ratio up to the resin's limit, then drops as orientation over-stresses the chain. Find the plateau for your grade — running just below the break point maximizes strength without winder breaks.
PP is non-hygroscopic, but surface moisture causes tape breaks and die drips at high winder speeds. A short hot-air pass at 80 °C stabilizes the line.
